Decentralized trade, random utility and the evolution of social welfare

چکیده
We study decentralized trade processes in general exchange economies and house allocation problems with and without money. The processes are a¤ected by persistent random shocks stemming from agentsmaximization of random utility. By imposing structure on the utility noise term logit distribution, one is able to calculate exactly the stationary distribution of the perturbed Markov process for any level of noise. We show that the stationary distribution places the largest probability on the maximizers of weighted sums of the agents (intrinsic) utilities, and this probability tends to 1 as noise vanishes. An Agent-Based Computational Model for the Evolution of Trade Networks
This paper describes an agent-based computational model for studying the formation and evolution of trade networks in decentralized market economies. A virtual economic world is constructed , populated by heterogeneous endogenously interacting traders with internalized data and modes of behavior. This virtual world can be used to study the formation and evolution of trade networks under alterna...
متن کاملA Search Model of Centralized and Decentralized Trade ?
This paper presents a search model of centralized and decentralized trade. In a centralized market, trades are intermediated by market makers at publicly posted bidask prices. In a decentralized market, traders search counterparties. Prices are negotiated and transactions are conducted in private meetings among traders. Traders can choose which market to enter. The determinant of bid-ask spread...
متن کاملInvestigating the Shocks of Real Sectors of the Economy on the Welfare Index in the Iranian Economy
The vector auto regression model was used to investigate the effect of real sector shocks on the social welfare in Iran during the period of 1980-2019.The results of the impulse response test showed that the Amartya Sen welfare index showed a rapid response to the shocks of total factor productivity growth in the first period, which had a zero effect over time. The utility-oriented welfare inde...

متن کاملCoordination and Decision-Making in a Market with Uncertainty
Research comparing centralized and decentralized coordination schemes is often contradictory. For example, Oskar Lange (1969) among others points out that the centralized coordination scheme can outperform decentralized schemes while Arrow and Debreu (1954) show otherwise. This paper focuses on this issue in the context of agent-based marketplaces. Specifically, we use a computational approach ...
